we keep saying, this world is fucked up, the world is truly ugly…
But no one actively does anything to change it all. Are we too afraid or too wrapped up in our own lives to actually take action.
I think we are very insensitive and uncaring. I sat down on the train at least 6 times this week…no one said a word to the person next to them. Do you know that back in the day strangers did talk to each other…but the word “Stranger” has been misconstrued and defined negatively. Thus as “strangers” we refuse to acknowledge each other-We don’t acknowledge that we exist to each other, animals do better than us.
A man dropped his newspapers in front of a guy on the phone on the train…he was old and had a cane…the guy on the phone didn’t help him. He dropped his stuff again…the guy didn’t help him. I was too far away to get up and help him. But I wanted to cry.
And yes I like to discuss racism, because white privilege exists, because we grew up sheltered from each other, we grew up internally as racists, we are racially aware constantly (or at least minorities are), so yes the struggle continues, yes black power is an issue and yes it should still be talked about.
And yes class is an issue, being rich or poor has an impact upon how you were raised and how you treat others or how you look at others.

hmmm. i’ve been thinking about porn a lot lately. a lot of it really does harm. we live in a world that is so hateful that it doesn’t even realize when things are offensive and just plain wrong anymore. so many young people learn about sex through porn (because good sex education is hard to come by) and think that is normal sex, which then leads to violence against women, really unfortunate masculine identities and so much more. there is good porn out there. there is sweet loving porn that is ethical and sexy and beautiful. it is just so the minority. so deeply the minority that in order to make it the majority we would have to entirely reconstruct the way our society views sex and gender and industry. which… might just not happen. it’s all so hard.
